Pool Time!
September 23
We walked to the pool today (which ended up being closed) and as we passed by the pond there were a bunch of ducks. The boys thought one of one of them was Lovable. They called to the one near by and the duck popped up and walked to the boys. We are pretty sure that one is lovable. The boys and Priya were so excited to see him again!
We went to the pool in the evening with Mike and a Spanish speaking grandma and grand-daughter showed up. The little girl looked to be about four years old. Priya gravitated towards her right away. The little girl was swimming with a vest on by herself with her grandma sitting in the lounge chairs. Priya followed her around the pool in her own little vest and they soon became friends! The little girl couldn’t speak English, but she and Priya played all sorts of games together for two hours! Towards the end of our time there, Priya was singing and then put her palms together and closed her eyes. I saw her mouth moving and wondered if she was praying. Priya stopped and walked over me and said she was praying! I’m so thankful for her love of God. We have been watch a bunch toddler God teaching shows and she is soaking it in! She stopped asking for the secular cartoons like Clifford or Berenstain Bears since we got here and asks for the Jesus teaching shows! Anyways... Meanwhile, Julian and Brennan were working on their jumping tricks the whole time. Lol! Brennan has trouble going passed the three-foot level of the pool. He has been working everyday on his swimming. Now he can almost swim properly underwater and he is inching deeper and deeper every couple of days! Go Brennan!
Brennan asked me how to ask the girl her name. I reached back to my middle school and high school Spanish and told him. Florida has even more Spanish speaking people than I thought! The boys are eager to learn Spanish so they can communicate with others. I will be teaching them Spanish along with their homeschool. Next time we visit everyone in GA or NY we might be bilingual! Haha, j/k!
New Pet?
September 21
Julian and I went to the dumpster and on our way back a duck ran up to us. The duck made a sweet hi-pitched sound like a little puppy. The boys did some research and found that if you are friendly with a duck they will remember your voice and view you as a safe person to be around. We think this duck is the same duck the boys fed before. The boys ran and got some goldfish. They fed the duck goldfish and it gobbled them down. We don’t know if it’s a girl or boy so I will refer to it as a he. The boys named the duck, Lovable.
Venturing out
September 19
Today we went to Patrick Space Force Base to check out the BX and the commissary. I was excited about this trip because we would be driving by Cocoa beach. As a fan of I Dream of Jeannie I wanted to find something that depicted part of the show. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of references to the show. I read there was a yogurt shop called I Dream of Yogurt that featured pictures from the show and photo ops. To my disappointment it was permanently closed- whhhhyyy?? I found there is a historical sign that is I Dream of Jeannie related and Barbra Eden dedicated it in 1969, as well as a street named after the show. We will see both of those another time.
The BX was an interesting experience. It was pretty big and peaceful as we browsed the store. Micheal asked me if there was any perfume I liked. I began trying out many of the tester bottles. There was a bottle with a tall cap and diamond on top. I forgot that perfume bottles tend to have caps that do not screw on. I picked it up from the cap and the bottle fell out from it. I jumped back and waited to hear the glass shatter. To my surprise, the bottle bounced and threw its sprayer cap off, which also bounce off the floor and then hit Michael in the eye as well as some perfume. It was so crazy to witness that scene. What kind of glass bottle can bounce?? Michael immediately went to the front to ask for an eyewash station. The employee gave him a big bottle of eyewash solution. When that didn’t help, the manager called the base medics to check him out. Even more crazy, the medics, the firemen and the security force came! The medic told Mike his eye was just irritated. I’m still praying that his eye will be normal tomorrow. I feel so bad I caused his eye to have issues. Because of that whole event, Mike bought the perfume! Now I have an expensive perfume to wear- aw, that’s love! Lol!
Later in the evening we went to the pool. Priya finally felt comfortable enough in her floaty vest to bob in front of us without us holding on to her for a minute. She was so excited to be independent so we played a game with her where we let her “swim” from one of us to the other person. We would stand maybe two and a half feet to three feet apart and let her try to paddle. Priya had such blast with her new found experience.
Julian and Brennan had a new experience as well! They tried out the hot tub with Mike!
