Hobby Time

If anyone really knows our family, they know we have some unique hobbies. The boys and Michael make and paint model airplanes and tanks. Brennan likes sculpting with clay; Julian crafts things out of wood; I scrapbook, craft, make Gundams; and Priya colors and paints. Not to mention all the board and card games we have. We love family game days! With all that said, after a request from Brennan, we spent half the day checking out different hobby stores. There were about three to four places we looked at, but they were all a bit far. All of them were pretty small with limited supplies. The boys and Michael are professional modelers now (LOL) so they need very particular supplies, and these stores didn’t seem to have what we were looking for. Even in GA there were very few places to find our kits and supplies, and they were also small shops. It’s sad that the scale modeling hobby is a dying interest. Scale modeling cultivates creativity, patience, dexterity, problem solving, and even historical research. Mike has instilled this interest in the boys, and to see how far they have come from around six years old to now, is absolutely amazing.

In the end, we had a late lunch at a restaurant with some unique food options. We weren’t able to try them all today. Road trip for another day! Some highlights to order were taco egg rolls, pulled pork egg rolls, and brisket mac and cheese egg roll. We ended up trying bacon wrapped meatballs… that was a hit with all of us!! If you are like me, I ordered sweet potato fries with my meal, and to my surprise they served the fries with a side of marshmallow fluff. Can I just say, not only did I find that amazing, but Michael and Brennan were delightfully experiencing the sweet potato and fluff, too!

We drove back home with full bellies and smiles on our faces! Thank you, God, for filling our tummies with yummy food <3
